Our Primary Tap dance classes are the beginnings to work towards graded tap and even vocational grades (Intermediate, Advanced 1 and Advanced 2).

Primary tap dance classes are the foundations children need to work towards graded tap examinations and even vocational grades (Intermediate, Advanced 1 and Advanced 2)

Tap dance is a rhythmical style of dance which teaches musicality, technique and style. Our aim is to develop basic skills and technique and to ensure students understand the rhythm in the music. Movements are expressed in an artistic and fun way, in a friendly and supportive environment.

Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing - Tap - Primary - Intermediate

Tap dance is an indigenous step dance form, it explores complex rhythms executed audibly with the toes and heels of the feet.

The ISTD describe tap dance as… ‘Tap has evolved as an American dance form, popularised throughout the world, with debate about its origins coming from African dance, Irish dance and/or clog dancing. The dancer uses their feet to strike the floor, beating out different rhythms, with dancers wearing tap shoes which have small metal plates on the toe and heel to give the distinctive sound. Tap dance is a theatrical art form often seen on stage in musicals.’
